Almost 9 years have passed since the last silverware added into the Arsenal trophy cabinet, yet the faithful gooners around the world wait patiently for the that time to come upon. This season though, their endless hunger might finally be fulfilled and we owe to one man, one man in particular; Mr. Arsene Wenger !!!

A lot has changed for Arsenal this season, most notably the fact that the Gunners are in pole position in both the Premier League table and the hardest of all the groups in the Champions League. And it is all good, which has given the Arsenal fans something to cheer about after some seriously lean years.

There has been talk about the atmosphere at the Emirates and it clearly doesn't help the players when they feel under pressure from their own fans, but it is understandable as well. It is human nature to express frustration and we have certainly had our fair share of that.

This season, however, everything is looking up and the fans are responding just as the players are. We are playing better, while the financial restrictions that were at the heart of everything seem to be over. Now instead of selling the best players, we are smashing the club transfer record to sign one of the world’s best in Mesut Ozil.

That is the sort of thing that has got long suffering supporters back on side, and it is a cyclical thing. The better the team plays, the more the fans will get behind them. And in an Arsenal.com report, the manager has acknowledged that they are really feeling the difference. Wenger also knows that this is a real benefit which could help the Gunners to their first trophy in many years.

He said, “There is certainly more support from the stands than this time last year.

“It will be a massive advantage, because when we have a difficult patch during a game, our fans feel it and support in response.”

What Wenger doesn't really allude to, but we all know, is that he himself was the subject of a lot of the fans’ frustration in recent seasons. That built to a real high point last year, but I bet we are all glad that Arsenal didn’t do what most clubs seem to do these days and sack the manager.

Wenger is flavour of the month again at the minute, but I wonder if those tensions will return if Arsenal finish another season with no silverware. What do you think Gooners?
